Boxing Preview 8/31

We have the best fighter in the world coming to London this weekend so of course I gotta bring you a little preview. I absolutely cannot wait for this one.

Saturday August 31

Who: Vasyl Lomachenko (13-1 10 KO’s) vs. Luke Campbell (20-2 16 KO’s)

Where: The O2 Arena, London

When: 1pm EST/10am PST

How: ESPN+

Implications: Well first off the biggest implication is always that we have the best fighter in the world in the ring. But technically we also are going to see him defend his WBA and WBO Lightweight Belts, while also fighting for the vacant WBC belt (I know its a lot). Lomachenko clearly is on a quest to unify the division and if he walks away with 3 belts here he is obviously very close.

Standing in his way will be former Olympic Gold Medalist Luke Campbell who went tooth and nail a couple years ago in a title fight with Jorge Linares. Don’t forget Linares gave Loma a tough fight. Campbell clearly has a size advantage and is quite a skilled boxer. HOWEVER, this is Lomachenko were talking about people. 2 time gold medalist, 397-1 as an amateur, fastest three weight champion ever, the guy was born to box.

I think Lomachenko will have some trouble in the early rounds but will find the angles in the middle of the fight and finish Campbell by the 10th round.

*On the undercard Hughie Fury is taking on the always dangerous Alexander Povetkin. This is a very interesting fight as far as rankings go, but style wise I have a feeling this could be a major stinker. I think Fury stinks out a decision here against the aging Russian.

There is also a fight on Fox between Erislandy Lara and Ramon “Canelo’s Brother” Alvarez. This is just PBC nonsense though and I won’t deem it with a preview.

I hope everyone enjoys the chance to see the master Lomachenko at work!
