*Not a ton to spoil here…

IMDB Synopsis
Reclusive author Loretta Sage writes about exotic places in her popular adventure novels that feature a handsome cover model named Alan. While on tour promoting her new book with Alan, Loretta gets kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire who hopes she can lead him to an ancient city’s lost treasure from her latest story. Determined to prove he can be a hero in real life and not just on the pages of her books, Alan sets off to rescue her.
“Were on the Lovemore and Dash adventure right now.”
As has been much discussed in the movie world, comedies are now few and far between. For some reason, whether it be Woke culture or evolution of comedy, there are just not very many funny movies anymore that are not Animated or a Marvel movie. That is why I was delighted when I found myself laughing pretty much the entire time throughout THE LOST CITY.
When I first saw the ads for this movie I was like, okay they are just remaking Romancing the Stone, I did not realize, like I said, how funny this would be. Most of that comes from the awesome cast of Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Brad Pitt, and Daniel Radcliffe. All have great pedigree of course, but all came together so well to create some incredible comedic chemistry.

The movie itself is pretty standard where Bullock plays a romance novelist who is seemingly at the end of her run, until circumstances suck her into an adventure that is just like one of her novels. Tatum plays a model who is the image of her character from her book, and when he gets sucked in as well, that is where the fun happens. Like I said though the story is standard but what makes the movie fun is the performances.
Stock Watch

Stock Neutral – Sandra Bullock
We know she can do everything, but I just love her when she does comedy. She usually plays the straight character around the crazy people but this time she gets to do it all and she nails it.

Stock Neutral – Channing Tatum
Simply he is one of the funniest people in Hollywood in my opinion. I know he does a lot of different work but anytime he does comedies he always cracks me up.

Stock Neutral – Daniel Radcliffe
Of course, he will always be Harry, but his choices post Potter are incredible and unique. Seeing him play the villain here so was cool and he absolutely nails the absurdity of his character. The running joke of him and his brothers all having gender neutral names got a chuckle out me each time.

*A couple other tidbits
- BRAD PITT! That is really all that needs to be said.
- Da’Vine Joy Randolph had a funny part but I did not necessarily need her in the movie.
- Where can I find Channing Tatum’s Wig.
This movie truly surprised me and was one of the funniest movies I have seen in years. It reminded me what a great comedy can do for you when people are locked in and laughing. We need more of these in theaters.
