Wild MMA weekend! We had belts changing hands, massive knockouts, and story lines galore coming out of the UFC and Bellator. So here are my five thoughts on the action from Saturday.
- Jake Hager aka “Jack Swagger” had another easy submission to go 2-0 in MMA. He held on a bit too long on the choke though, and the crowd booed him incessantly during his interview.
2. Michael “Venom” Page got absolutely PLASTERED by Douglas Lima, who once again showed you cannot play games in the ring.
3. Patricio “Pitbull” Friere knocked out Michael Chandler in the first round, to become the second Double Champ in Bellator History. There was some controversy, but I felt the stoppage was just.
4. It was very sad to see Anderson Silva lose on another leg kick, but Jared Cannonier looks like a beast at 185.
5. Champion Rose Namajunas looked great on Saturday, UNTIL SHE GOT SLAMMED TO THE MOON BY JESSICA ANDRADE. I am glad Rose is OK but man Jessica is an absolute bull dozer and will be tough to beat in the 115 lb. division.
I hope everyone had a good time and continue to be thankful that we get to enjoy this wonderful sport.
