The MMA leader rolls on this weekend as the Octagon heads to Wichita Kansas headlined by a showdown of a couple big boys. This is not the most high level card but there are a bunch of exciting fighters. So here is a little preview for the barbaric human cock fighting this weekend.
Tim Means vs. Niko Price
This is a very fun fight with two guys who love to bang. Tim Means has been in the game a long time and has seen everything in the MMA game. Niko Price was a fast rising prospect who lost some shine recently with a couple losses, so he is looking to get back on track.
Means is very well rounded but prefers to strike with his opponents, Niko likes to strike but he really likes to come after his opponents and would like to beat them up on the ground. That was proven with an unbelievable hammer fist finish from the bottom position against Randy Brown.
This is tough to pick a winner but I think Niko Price gets this done with a second round finish with strikes on the ground.
Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos vs. Curtis Millender
Low Key this is a great fight even if the names are not well known yet. dos Santos is 6-1 in the UFC only losing his debut, and Millender is 3-0 in the UFC, so these guys have been quietly been making a name for themselves. Both of these men are highly skilled and are looking to rise up the Welterweight Rankings.
I think this will be a very good back and forth battle that will stay on the feet pretty much the whole time. With his reach and striking ability I do think Millender will be able to outlast him for a Unanimous Decision win.
Derrick Lewis vs. Junior Dos Santos
I am going to preface this by saying I am extremely biased here because “The Black Beast” is my favorite fighter of all time. Between the highlight reel knockouts and the post fight interviews he is the most entertaining man in the sport. Oh and his celebration is one of the all time greats.
Junior Dos Santos is a former world title holder until Cain Velasquez took his soul, but this is one of the toughest men ever. He has incredible striking and great takedown defense. Derrick Lewis has one style and that is “swangin and bangin,” he is not going to wow with technique but you cannot take your eyes off him for a second. I mean Alexander Volkov was beating him up for 3 whole rounds until he got lazy for 1 second and…..
LIGHTS OUT BABY!
The key to winning this for Dos Santos is to basically keep Lewis at range and utilize the jab and leg kicks. Lewis has also never been known for his cardio so if this goes to the 4th or 5th round he could be in trouble.
I think though Junior has taken too much damage in his career and Lewis will land one at some point in the second round to knock him to the moon. Derrick Lewis Second Round KO!
*Also on the card is the return of Ben Rothwell with his first fight in 3 years because of a suspension.
And the return of the man, the myth, the legend Tim “The Barbarian” Boetsch looking for another highlight reel knockout.
I hope everyone has a great fight night and enjoys this night of pure savagery in Mixed Martial Arts.
