We have another exciting card this weekend as the Octagon rolls to the City of Brotherly Love. The Main Event here should be an absolute war, but the whole card has some intriguing fights. Here is my preview of all the action!
Karolina Kowalkiewicz vs. Michelle Waterson
What a fun fight this is?! We have two extremely high level strikers who have no problem throwing down in the Octagon. Michelle Waterson is coming off two straight wins, while Karolina is fighting for the first time since September, when she got knockout cold by Jessica Andrade.
I do like this match up for Karolina because she can use her length to her advantage and score points on Michelle. I have Karolina by decision in this.
Josh Emmett vs. Michael Johnson
This is another banger of a fight where we see two high level strikers in the Featherweight division. We have not seen Josh Emmett since getting brutalized by Jeremy Stephens, so we do not know how he will look.
Michael Johnson also has not looked spectacular since coming down 10 pounds, so this could be a good come back fight for Emmett if he can get in close and land one of his bombs.
I have Emmett by second round KO in this one.
David Branch vs. Jack Hermansson
This is a solid fight here with a couple middleweight veterans. Both of these guys have power and submissions in their arsenals so we could see a very interesting stylistic match up. I will take their matchups with Thiago Santos as my barometer here and say Santos finished Hermansson and Branch finished Santos, so obviously Branch is winning right?
Wrong! I have Hermansson with a Second Round finish here.
Edson Barboza vs. Justin Gaethje
When we see Edson Barboza on a card we all think about the same thing.
If you give the guy space he will knock you into the next week with kicks from your legs all the way to your head.
And when we all think about Justin Gaethje only one word comes to your mind.
WAR!
Gaethje is the definition of a pressure fighter that will test your will for as long as either person can take it.
Both of these guys need wins in the always crowded Lightweight division, but I have to go with Gaethje because he is not going to give Edson space to maneuver and will finish him in the third round.
I hope everyone enjoys the savagery as always!
