In this new age of cinema there has been many iterations of remakes with opposite genders. We have seen Ghostbusters, Ocean’s 8, and now we have a female reverse version of the movie Big.
Little (ha) directed by Tina Gordon (who wrote What Men Want) is about a woman who was teased in middle school and has grown up to become the bully she always hated. Jordan Sanders (played by Regina Hall) is given a hex by a middle schooler she makes fun of, and she is magically turned into her 13 year old self (played by Marsai Martin). Well I am guessing you know most of the rest, she has to learn to become a good person again or she will not be able to return to her body before the big deadline! There is fun, there are hijinx, oh and of course there is a big dance sequence becasue for some reason in all of these movies there is a dance break for no reason.
There is really not a ton more to say because we have seen many versions of this story and arc, but there are some fun tidbits with some of the actors that made this a little more interesting.
Stock Watch
Stock Up – Marsai Martin gives an absolute star turn in this movie. Kenya Barris a producer on this and one of her producers on Black-Ish said she gave him the idea for this movie when she was 10! When they finally made the movie they made her a producer and she is the youngest producer in the history of Hollywood for this movie. She is also, objectively, really good in this movie in both the comedic moments, and the dramatic ones.
Stock Down – This hurts me to say it but Regina Hall was a little over the top in this one. Her stock is not dropping much but I was very high on her finally getting roles in the main stream, but this one hurt to watch. I know her job was supposed to be the mean rich lady, I just did not totally buy it.
Stock Up – Issa Rae played Jordan’s assistant April who has to kind of take over all the responsibilities once Jordan becomes a kid. She has a classic arc of beaten down assistant that makes good in the end (see What Men Want again). She was extremely funny in this and I hope she gets a starring role in something soon.
*A couple other tidbits
- Man so weird seeing Mikey Day’s career blowing up. I was watching him wayyyy back in the day on Wild n Out with Nick Cannon. And now he is on Saturday Night Live and in Movies. Good for Mikey.
- Love seeing Rachel Dratch being a normal person for once.
- I am all in on JD McRary who played Jordans middle school friend Isaac who is a stutterer but a great singer. I cannot wait to see him in Lion King this summer playing young Simba.

Everything published was very logical. But, what about this?
what if you wrote a catchier post title? I am not
saying your information isn’t good., however what if you added a post
title that grabbed people’s attention? I mean Little Review – The Musings of Apple Juice is a little plain. You could look at Yahoo’s home page and see how they create post headlines to grab viewers to open the
links. You might add a video or a related pic or two to get readers excited about what you’ve written. In my opinion,
it would make your posts a little livelier.
